sfz format mappings of Music Tech Magazine multisamples

The December 2004 issue of Music Tech Magazine included a cover CD with various sample sets. Along with two PMI Pianos (Bosendorfer The Emperor and Steinway D The Old Lady), they included a set of royalty free Pink Noise multisamples. This page links to sfz mappings for the various instruments supplied.

You need the cover CD indicated by the mapping filename for the samples. Copy the samples onto your hard disk, ideally one directory per set. Then save the appropriate .sfz file into the same directory. (See the notes below for exceptions to the above.) When you load the .sfz file in sfz, you can play each patch across (an appropriate stretch of) the keyboard.

Notes

Some of the sample sets were more interesting than others. This section explains...

MT21-12-04-PinkNoise-Accordion: Two separate instrument mappings are combined use channel 1 (master) and channel 2 (single). If you want to play both at the same time, you'll need to set up a keyboard split (or equivalent).
MT21-12-04-PinkNoise-QS-DanceBass2: The three velocity layers are cross-faded so you don't get a sudden change in sound. Forte is velocity 96 up; mezzo is 56 to 103; piano is up to 63. Separate mappings of each layer are also provided.
MT21-12-04-PinkNoise-FunkyBass: Use the mod wheel to select between the straight and pop basses. CC1 between 0 and 63 gives you the "straight" samples. 64 and up get the pop bass samples.
MT21-PinkNoise-QS-Rave: Two velocity layers are provided. The cross-fade runs between velocities 64 and 95. The separate layers are also provided.
MT21-12-04-PinkNoise-SuperSynBass: Cross-fading didn't really seem necessary for this set. The layers switch at 95/96 and 47/48. Again the separate layers are also provided.
